Zhang Jianhua, Director of the National Energy Administration, introduced that the pace of clean and low-carbon energy consumption transformation in China is accelerating.
Since 2014, China's energy consumption per unit of GDP has decreased by a cumulative 20%, supporting 6.2% of national economic growth with an average annual energy consumption growth of about 2.9%. The energy consumption structure has been significantly optimized. The proportion of coal consumption has decreased from 65.8% in 2014 to 56% in 2021, with an average annual decrease of 1.4 percentage points, marking the fastest decline in history. The proportion of clean energy consumption increased from 16.9% to 25.5% during the same period, accounting for over 60% of the increase in energy consumption.
The national ultra-low emission coal-fired power generation unit exceeds 1 billion kilowatts. The clean heating rate in the northern region has reached 73.6%, replacing over 150 million tons of loose coal. We have fully supplied six national standard automotive gasoline and diesel, built the world's largest charging and swapping network, and built a total of 3.918 million charging facilities. The implementation of power construction projects in areas without electricity has led to the realization of universal access to electricity in developing countries. The 26.36 million kilowatt photovoltaic poverty alleviation project has been completed, benefiting 60000 impoverished villages and 4.15 million households. Continuously optimizing the electricity business environment and comprehensively implementing the "Three Zero" and "Three Provinces" services for telegraph installation, the cumulative savings in electricity investment for users have exceeded 150 billion yuan. In the World Bank's global business environment assessment, China's "access to electricity" indicator ranking has significantly increased to 12th, ranking among the "global best practices".
